Touch of Fall Color

Fall especially in Michigan brings out so much color in trees, shrubs, various perennials and annual color. Various Maple trees burn red/orange colors, burning bushes, Autumn Joy Sedum, and Black-Eyed Susans are great for fall color. It is important to incorporate Fall color into your garden area because this will be the last Pop of Color before the leaves fall and sticks appear for the winter months.

Aroma Gardens

I have been getting many requests recently for themed gardens. Aroma gardens have become very popular. Wonderful fragrances can fill your yard each season not just for flowers but edible herbs can also give off a fresh scent and you can obtain that farm to table experience.

  • Catmint
  • Sage
  • Lemon Thyme
  • Lavender
  • Lilac
  • Bee Balm

Shade Perennials

Perennials are plants that once planted should return every season. For shaded areas it is best to use hardy plants that thrive with little sunlight.

  • Hosta- several varieties to choose from adds leafy texture to the garden. White or Purple Blooms.
  • Astilbe- white, red, pink feathery plume like blooms.
  • Bleeding Heart- pictured on the left looks like a human heart beautiful splash of color pink, red, white and yellow
  • Ferns- give a ruffled textured effect in the garden.
